Guide, data sources & FAQ

How to use

From the home page, search a place name or paste WGS84 latitude and longitude to open the geocoding tool. Use My Location after granting browser permission, or open the world map and other map tools from the cards below.

What problem it solves

People need a single entry point to geocode addresses, reverse-look up coordinates, check elevation and weather, and discover related map utilities without switching between unrelated sites.

Data sources

Basemap tiles from MapFirst via MapLibre. Geocoding via LocationIQ with Nominatim fallback. Weather from WeatherAPI.com. Elevation from a local 1 km DEM. All coordinates use WGS84 (EPSG:4326).

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to use the map tools?

No. Core tools such as geocoding, elevation, world map and my location work without signing in. An account is only needed for optional private history and share management features.

Which coordinate system do you use?

WGS84 (EPSG:4326) only for display and API results. We do not apply GCJ-02 / BD-09 offsets used by some regional map apps.

Are elevation and weather the same data source?

No. Elevation comes from our local DEM estimate. Weather is fetched separately from WeatherAPI when you view weather for a place.

Why are some searches rate limited?

Upstream geocoding providers (LocationIQ / Nominatim) enforce fair-use limits. Caching and daily quotas help keep the free service available for everyone.
